About Us

UMAP History

The United Methodist Association of Preschools has been in existance for over 30 years, working with churches and early childhood programs in the Florida U M Conference and in other conferences. We are here to support churches and schools in their efforts to provide for God's youngest children the best quality care and education.

We offer accreditation that is recognized by the State of Florida with a Gold Seal designation. We offer training, support, mentoring and more. We are here to help you provide the best early childhood program your church can offer!

Accreditation Standards Reference Guide

UMAP provides the UMAP Standards, revised in 2016, for Accreditation free online. Early Childhood Programs can review the UMAP Standards before committing to the accreditation process. Programs that wish to proceed with accreditation will complete the Application for UMAP Standards and Procedures and submit a fee of $100.00. UMAP will verify the program meets the requirements and will then send the program the entire UMAP Evaluation and Observation Packet which includes the UMAP Self Evaluation Documents and all other forms needed for Accreditation.

UMAP programs committing to the Accreditation process must devote at least eight months to the self-evaluation process. During this time programs will be assembling their Accreditation Notebook. Following the eight month self evaluation process, UMAP programs will submit their UMAP Accreditation Notebook (Sections A, B, C & D), Application for Accreditation Visit and Validation Fee. UMAP will schedule a validator to visit the program.
